i was just curious as to how many shared my opinion. i.e. that peter jackson did a good job but he left out too many important things in anticipation of getting a lot of money and profits

My initial impression was much the same, I felt the movie really kept the feeling of the books but left too much out , the Lothlorien section was too short and Galadriel too haughty. BUT, the extended version corrects most of these faults, If you have never seen the extended version of the first movie, you need to., also from previews I have seen of the second movie's extended version, it does much the same. There is an entire section on the family dynamics with Boromir, Faramir and Denethor that got cut and when I first saw "the Two Towers" i cried, "how can they leave out the Huorns from the battle of Helm's Deep", this too has been corrected. Just wait until Nov to get the extended version

For me, it is the best interpretation and visualization of "The Lord of the Rings" to date.
What would be the next step forward?
High Definition TV-version!
Also, seeing all three films, over a weekend, at an Imax (really big screen movie) theatre.

I don't think it was so much for the money, for if it was they wouldn't have done things they have done. I am reading the books but I liked his version so far, though I would loved it to see Tom Bombadil.

I've heard that they are or have considered making The Hobbit into a movie, but ever since then, I have not heard of it since. I am quite sure it was not going to be by Peter Jackson, though that sounds odd, but he seemed very final about The Return of the King.
