he went with Gimli, though it was not directly afther the Ware of the Ring but later on, Gimli had become an old Dwarf by then.

If your not an elf the only way you can go to the Undying Lands is if you put on or carryed a ring of power, sam went with mih because he carried and put on the one ring.

there are a few non-Elven, non-Ring bearers that went to the undying lands.

In the Appendicies of "The Return of the King" is is said that Gimli sailed West with Legolas after Legolas built the grey ship following Aragorn's death. Gimli was allowed to go because of his deep friendship with Legolas and his love for Galadriel.

Yes, Galadriel was very respected even with the Valar. It is said that Galadriel perhaps helped Gimili get special permission to come to the undying lands. It is also said that one reason he was allowed to come with Legolas because there had never been such a friendship between elves and dwarves and it set such a good example for others on Middle Earth.
