How old is Legolas? I'm 120. Am I too young for him?

In the film, he was 2931 yrs old.(dis is the age that i was told) But as far as i know, tolkien did not mention it in the books.

well, there is no real evidence that suggests the true age of legolas in the book but is usually just assumed to be born in the third age....its strange that all the detail and history that went into tolkiens work... the one thing that he forgot was to state the age of legolas?
