Sory for this dubble-post, but i'd like do give some comments on the word list and i thougt it'll be clearer this way....
I am not that good at quenya, so i miss this out, and take only sindarin translations. For there are words that are rekonstructed i use * in front of. All words and grammar refer to Dragon Fame Sindarin Lexicon and Thorsten Renk. and Helge Fauskanger
This word does not exist! Anyway all elvish languages have different words for 'I','me' and 'mine', it's not that simple... In sindarin we have _anim_ that means 'for myself' But we have attested:
I - im
my - nín
me - nin
Doesn't exist neither! Sounds like a quenya suffix, but nope!
we - mín
us - mîn
our - *men
The same...
you - *ce (informell)/* le (formell)
you (objekt) - *cen (informell)/* le (formell)
your - *cîn (informell)/* lîn (formell)
Absolutly the worsest case i've ever seen...
I love you - Le melin / Gen melin e.g.
No! Theses Words must be rekonstructed but they can definitly not start with 'r'!
he/she/it - *so/*se/*sa
him/her/it - *son/*sen/*san
his/her/its - tîn/ în (refexiv)
they (male/female/things) - *sy/*si/*sai
them (male/female/things) - *syn/*sin/*sain
their (male/female/things) - *tîn/* în (refexiv)
The fist one right!!! Its quenya! But the second one must be
tana not tanya... Sindarin it would be:
this - sen
_mellon_ and _en_ are from sindarin, they do exist, but the grammar is wrong. After _en_ there can only be nouns! 'mine' is no noun. So you got:
a friend of mine/my friend - mellon nîn
Does not exist neither...
I desire to speak - Aníron peded
Thats right!
Nope. Both sindarin and quenyaare:
hope - estel
Hmmmm,...there can't be any elvish word strartin wth 'w',... thats impossible...
And we don't know a word to translate this...
Sometimes this happens.
Ehm,no! _thar-_ is a sindarin word, yes, but it means '(a)cross', for _tharbad_ means 'crossway' not 'againstway'...And it is not a single word, it's a prefix.
against - dan
I've never heard of an attested word for this, but i'm sure it's not niasa. As a similarword we have:
bond - gwaedh
Another word, that Tolkien never invented and we have no reason to think, that Tolkien would have picked it to pieces and translated it word afer word... The only way we can express this is maybe:
for ever - an-uir
Alas not accurate, it has to be quenya _cuive_ and sindarin:
awakening - echui
Nope... _mail_ it is in sindarin, but i can't tell where it is from at the moment....But that's also not quenya.
Almost, because the little things are also importent:
quenya cú
sindarin: cû:
This is token from the other name of the Vala Tulka. But the quenya word for brave, bold is still _verya_ and the sindarin word is:
bold - beren
In quenya there are no words strartind with 'd'...In sindarin there is a word _dîl_, but it means 'stopper, stuffer'.
But i can find no word for 'devotion'...
Can't find anything like that in quenya, and it's for sure not sindarin. There you'd have got to konstrukt something with _beria-_ = to protect, but that would be tolally different.
That's right! It's sindarin
Elf-Friend means for sure not the first word! The real translation must be in Quenya _Eldandil_ and its plural is , indeed, _Elendili_. _Elendil_ really is an informal version of 'Elf-Friend', because you can to equate 'elf' with 'star'. The sindarin word would then be _elvellon_.
That's right, too! It's sindarin. Quenya would be: _elda_
Another right word in quenya. Sindarin it's _uireb_.
Almost right, but there is an 'o' too much. It's quenya _oi_ and sindarin would probably use _uireb_ also.
Nope. Quenya uses _ilquen_ and sindarin has no word like this.
Well, an 'a' too much,...take _Namarie_!
Sindarin can be reconstructed to:
Farewell - *Novaer/*Navaer
Right! Quenya. Sindarin has e.g. _thenid_
Yes, it's qeunya! Sindarin: _amarth_
That's wrong: quenya has _mel-_ for 'to love' and _melme_ for 'love'. Sindarin has _mel-_ or maybe _mil-_ for 'to love' and _meleth_ for 'love'.
It's a little bit only: quenya _tennoio_.
Right! Sindarin _tawar_.
I don't know if there is a quenya word for heart, but it's not this. Sindarin no such words either. But it has got:
heart (in a moral sense) - gûr
Thats neither quenya, nor sindarin. Sindarin would be:
healer - nestor
Sindarin:
Half-Elf - peredhel
Half-Elves - peredhil
_Earendil_ means _Sea-Friend_ , and everyone, who has read a bit about him, knows he's a sailor and human.
Better is _callo_ for quenya ans sindarin _thalion_.
It's sindarin for the whole folk. If you just want to speak of 2 or more (but not all) Hobbits, you've got to say _periain_, and one Hobbit is a _perian_.
Definitly not! We don know for sure, but it may be quenya _*ai_ and sindarin _*ae_.
Definitly not! Quenya has _líve_ for this and sindarin's got only the adjectiv 'ill' as _lhaew_.
Thats right. Quenya _ilfirin_ and sindarin _alfirin_.
Nope. another uncertain word, but maybe it is sindarin _na_. For sure not _ea_ , thats quenya for 'he/she/it exists'.
Nope. See above.
Right, it's quenya. Sindarin itis _noss_.
For sure not this. Sindarin has _milui_. Quenya has no direkt match but you might use another related word.
The first word is right, in both languages. But there has never been 'haran', just take _aran_.
I don't know the quenya word, but the sindarin it is e.g. _miphil_
Arwen may be a lady, but not every lady is named Arwen.. Arwen means 'high, nobel or royal woman`. The word for lady can be sindarin _brennil_, _dî_, _heryn_ or _hiril_.
Just missing an ' on Aldudénie.
'Lirima' and 'Melar' are not elvish, i can't find anything. The rest is quenya. Sindarin it is:
Lover (female) - melethril
Lover (male) - melethron
Surely not! _adanedhel_ means 'man-elf', but closer half human, half elvish. And not male, because a male elf ist called _ellon_ in sindarin.
Thats right.
well, that's it...
